Niyaz Osmanlıca ne demek?

İslami ve tasavvufi kaynaklarda sıklıkla kullanılan niyaz kelimesi Farsça kökenlidir. Kelimenin ilk anlamı yalvarıp yakarmak ve bir şeyi can-ı gönülden istemektir. Ülkemizde erkek çocuklarına verilen isimlerden biri olan Niyazi ise yalvaran ve dua eden anlamına gelir.
