Mimar Sinan ne zaman ve nasıl öldü?

Mimar Sinan, Kanuni döneminde, 1521'de katıldığı Belgrad, 1522'deki Rodos seferlerinden sonra subaylığa yükseldi. Hayatı boyunca toplamda 375 eser bırakmıştır. Bunlardan Edirne'de yaptığı Selimiye Camisi Dünya Kültür Mirası listesindedir. 17 Temmuz 1588 tarihinde İstanbul'da vefat etmiştir.

1930'lu yıllardaki Türklük tartışmaları nedeniyle 1935 yılında Sinan'ın başı, türbesindeki mezarından çıkarıldı. Amacın bilimsel olduğu iddia edildi ancak asıl amaç farklıydı. Çıkarılan kafatası, bir daha yerine konulmadı ve bunca yıldır bulunamadı.
